Sakura Kano (狩野 さくら Kanō Sakura) is the younger sister of Sumire Kano who attends Ohashi High School, although her grades are horrible.
Plot[]
Sakura is the main character of Toradora! Spin-Off Volume 1, appearing in all four stories. She does not appear in the main series of light novels, but is mentioned briefly as Sumire's younger sister in the spin-off story at the end of Volume 2.
In the anime, Sakura only makes brief appearances in several episodes, yet is a prominent member of the Student Council despite only being a first-year student. Her connection to Sumire is never made explicit, and she is only mentioned by name once. During the cultural festival, Sakura appears on stage holding the tiara of Miss Ohashi while Sumire announces the Lucky Man race. In episode 14, Sakura witnesses fellow Student Council member Kota Tomiie being chased by The Palmtop Tiger. It is not known whether Sakura intervenes, but by sunset, she is seen clinging on to Kota having worried about him, as they walk on a raised embankment past Taiga and Yusaku Kitamura nearer the river.
In episode 16, Sakura announces Kitamura as the next Student Council President.
In episode 18, Sakura helps the Student Council and Class 2-C set up a Christmas tree inside the Ohashi High School gym for their Christmas party.
Etymology[]
- Sakura's surname Kano means "hunt, raid, gather" (狩) (ka) and "field, wilderness" (野) (no).
